A Thing of Beauty=Joy forever?

They say beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Is this true? Isn't it the concensus amongst the eyes of the beholders in a society that recognizes and appreciates beauty? Whatever one may say, looks do matter. It is the force of a rose's appearance that attracts the attention of a passer-by. A beautiful female candidate automatically creates a good impression on her interviewer without uttering even a single word. A good looking salesman can influence a woman's purchase behaviour (now that i am an expert in Consumer Behaviour!).
Anything that is pleasing to the eyes (eye-candy) sends a signal to the brain to draw a favourable picture of the subject and creates a 'halo effect' around the subject.
Now looking from the perspective of the person possessing this power of captivating beauty, he/she is confident about him/herself and in most of the cases knows that he/she is blessed with beauty. This lays the floor for the entire business of fashion industry and beauty saloons. Everyone wants to look good to impress the opposite sex (Freudian Theory).
But in this world of commercialization, arn't we losing the charm of natural beauty? Isn't every creature of God beautiful? Where is the beauty in modesty and honesty? What can replace the beauty of simplicity? But in this fast moving world, who has the time to look into the inner beauty of the soul and character? What interests us is the face value - of everything and everyone.
When would a cactus find its lover as a rose finds for itself? May be it would, even though it takes a lifetime for that. But it definitely would...

Beauty is always circumstantial, my fellow "philosopher"....coz a cactus would be the most beautiful thing for a person dying of thirst, marooned in the vast expanse of the desert!!! Anything appears to be beautiful if u want it to be...especially with reference to age old sayin..."Beauty lies in the eyes of the beer holder"..lol!!!!

Oh My! My friend 'The Devil's Own' has taken the interpretation to newer depths and a different angle altogether!

What I would say is that the common man is well aware of the nature of cactus and it is he who has chosen to pick her up knowingly. So, he must accept his fate without blaming anybody. The cactus would find an admirer when the right time comes. As everyone in this world does end up getting a companion. Faith is the key!

All I can say is Love cannot be enforced on thrusted upon anyone. In such a case, someone has to compromise, either the cactus or the common man.
