Random thoughts on Communication
1. There are times when you just want to keep talking to yourself, away from the world around you that is full of sham. Then what could be better than penning down the thoughts before they get lost amongst the zillions that keep originating.
How important is communication in our day-to-day routine? This was just what flashed across my mind today. I think its absence would simply mean living in vacuum which is practically impossible for us. We are in constant communication at all times, be it with others or self. What is evident is the communication with others, but the one that has more impact is the one with self.
2. Through Bhagwad Geeta Lord Krishna says, “I am the one who resides in each one of you, I am the driving force behind all your activities, I am the brain you are merely executors”. So, communication with self can be interpreted as talking to the God within you who exists in the form of the soul. In this era dominated by Science and its mystics, the idea of a single soul changing bodies is unimaginable! As per this concept, self/soul is nothing but the Almighty himself.
3. When I say communication with self is not visible to others, I mean it happens inside your head. Now just imagine, if this communication becomes evident to others too, how will it be perceived? Definitely, such a person would be considered abnormal (to the extent of being called a lunatic or eccentric).
4. I had an encounter with one such guy who happened to be my auto driver yesterday morning. He was a literally a live telecast of non-stop nonsense. He had this notion somewhere that he was this style icon Rajni and the entire world should be aware of this fact. He wanted all other vehicles on the road to vanish, thereby eliminating traffic and wanted his auto to fly over the roads to make the journey time minimal. Initially I got a bit scared; not knowing what else could be his activities that could surpass my expectations of a normal auto driver. Later, I realized that he was just a bit hyper and enjoyed talking to himself aloud. I somehow think he does all this to keep the monotonous routine away from his life.
5. Talking nicely to others is an art for sure. And its impact can be wonderful. Let me narrate my encounter with another auto driver (sorry…now that I have started observing the auto drivers more closely these days, I take the liberty of using them as examples. When I say I have started observing, it simply means that I am looking at the behavioral aspects and nothing else!). First of all, to give you a profile picture of Chennai auto drivers, you just can’t get away without bargaining on fares with them. They fares they state are unreasonable to the core. So, here I leave home in search of an auto that could transport me to my office by 10 pm and I see an Auto approaching me. After repeating my usual lines explaining my office's location to the driver, I stated the fare I wished to pay. He reacted by refusing the deal and moving forward as most drivers do. I also went ahead and stood at my usual place to catch another one. After a few seconds, I see the same auto coming towards me and this time, to my surprise, I heard a pleading from the driver. He was literally begging me to board the auto and pay the extra 20 bucks as per his request. This was new to me. And I was least expecting what was coming my way. These were his words, "My girl, you appear like goddess Mahalakshmi to me. I am like your father dear. Pay the money as a tribute to your father." I could react in no other way than sitting quietly in his auto.

6. Mind is the biggest communicator. All our senses follow the dictates of mind. We may be looking at something but still not seeing/noticing it. Until and unless the mind wants, the senses can’t perform.
7. Freedom of expression is something that we possess but most of the times we choose not to use it. What restrict us are the circumstances and the unwanted reactions of others.
