Maami Milaap

Time to give updates about the Bangaluru Maami, after the recent reunion of the Maamis held in Bangalore, which was the after-effect of the repeated hounding and emotional blackmailing by Bangalore Maami (BM), insisting on paying a visit to her city. The Chennai Maami (CM) had no other way out than to arrange for her train tickets to Bangalore somehow, inspite of knowing that some of her other good friends staying in Bangalore won’t be there on that particular weekend she had planned the trip. So, this trip was a tribute by CM to BM for all the great Maamiship they share!

CM landed on Sat, early morning; got picked by her uncle and was ready to follow the schedule prepared and narrated by BM, last evening (after lots of heated discussions between the Maamis, which was part and parcel of the Maamiship). So, the great Milaap happened in the afternoon, when the rain God was showering his blessings upon us. Preceding this was another round of confusion and blame game when CM couldn’t figure out where the hell BM was, waiting for her to be picked up in CM’s uncle’s car so that both could reach BM’s place. Finally they reached by 1.30 p.m. and it was hard for them to believe that they were actually together after a break of 6 months (which was actually not that long a period but it’s all psychological). Besides the continuous munching activity, CM took interest in knowing what all was happening in BM’s life – her love flings, music classes, sports updates. CM was really proud of BM’s never-die spirit and enthusiasm to pursue what she likes and to learn new things. CM could see a different BM, a slimmer version with a new hair-do and wardrobe (definitely not falling in line with a typical Maami look). However, the overall package is still the same – hyper, silly and lovable (and all Maami values intact)! Engrossed in observing all these changes in BM, all of a sudden CM was full of aaseervadam (blessings) for BM to get a good groom.

Another interesting character lived with BM, her office colleague cum housemate. Lately, BM has grown quite fond of her, finding another good friend. Now, if you are a friend of BM, you would know that she has unlimited rights:
- to boss around you;
- to try change your habits;
- to make you social;
- to make you health conscious;
- to take you out for night-walks;
- to change your programs to accommodate her own.

To top it all, she is also imparting gyan on ‘How not to become a Maami’. Now, this is hilarious, isn’t it?! So, one thing is quite apparent. BM is trying to break the outer mould (physical) which was a part of her for all these years. But I know that she would still remain a Maami at heart.
