Dilli Bhraman
Maamis met again and yet again history was created. PVR Naraina was honoured to receive the Maamis on a Saturday afternoon who wanted to satiate their appetite for Tamil movies. It was planned well in advance. Tickets were booked online by DM (Dilli Maami) as per the orders of BM (erstwhile Bengaluru Maami) who usually acts as the enthusiastic initiator of all such outings and meet-ups. However, despite all advance planning activities, how could the Maamis remain away from their old accomplice - CHAOS. DM got stuck in a traffic jam near her place. In the meantime DM realized that only half an hour was left for the movie to start. Being aware of the consequences, she immediately informed BM of the situation and suggested to sell off her ticket if possible (money does matter!). BM consoled DM and goaded her to come as soon as possible. She couldn't let her planning go in vain! So, DM boosted her spirits, instructed the Auto-wallah to take her to Naraina ASAP in whatever way possible and finally managed to reach, having missed half an hour of the movie. (FYI - DM hates missing any scene of the movie, be it in cinema hall or at home). Having reached on time, BM was in constant touch with DM for minute by minute updates on the whereabouts.
'Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya' was our choice majorly because of Rehman music. The songs had captivated us, tickling our imagination, raising the desire to watch the movie. But it was a disaster! Without getting into reviewing the movie, let me give you a picture of the atmosphere in the theater. The place could actually be mistaken for Chennai. Whistles, claps and comments (in Tamil) filling the hall every now and then; the Maamis were overwhelmed. A sense of belonging prevailed.
The next meet happened at DLF Emporia, Vasant Kunj. As both the Maamis were expected to show their dedication to work on Saturdays too, there was a lot of uncertainty in execution of the movie plan. The Maamis made it somehow, just bang on time, and rushed to the ticket window (least aware of what awaited them). They were on time, with ample seats available for the show. Still what kept them away from the show was absence of a cloak room (BM was carrying her office laptop like a baby which could not be given to strangers to be taken care of)! So, the Maamis decided to roam around the mall. Chilling and chatting over coffee, cribbing about the Groom hunt, sharing recent pics, discussing encounters with weird characters, getting inside apparel shops (Punk was one) to check out the latest fashion (which was completely beyond their domain of understanding), enjoying Rehman songs on their way back and laughing at their own innocent stupidities comprised of their itinerary.
This was just one of the many sprees to follow...
