Introducing Viaan...

My kid finally arrived in style and in a hurry! On 11th of April, I (thankfully along with Vignesh) went to my Gynaec for the usual check-up and she informed that my baby was on its way out. I immediately got admitted into the hospital and in the next 3 hours, I had given birth to a healthy baby boy (by God's grace). Later my Gynaec told me that she made a case study of me in a lecture because usually in cases of first pregnancy, the labour lasts for 6-16 hours. I told myself I was just pure lucky. Diagnosed with gestational diabetes, I was supposed to be on strict diet. I was supposed to walk for an hour everyday. Having been careless about both these things, what I was regular about was only going to office. In fact, I was to reach office post my check-up on the day of delivery as well.

Well, I was a bit unprepared for this (sudden arrival of our little family member). May be that is why I could handle the situation well. We had not even completed our shopping for the baby. Vignesh was quite chilled out throughout the delivery process (at least on the outside) which pissed me off during the labour as I felt 'why only I need to go through this pain'. 2 days in hospital passed in daze (eating and feeding with minimal sleep). Fortunately my mom-in-law arrived to help (don't know how would I have managed without her).

Despite the usual monotonous operational work of cleaning the poop and changing nappies/diapers, motherhood is an experience one should never miss. Observing a child (that too your own beautiful creation), is damn interesting. Sometimes he is soulful, sometimes he is playful; sleepy, troubled, desperate and peaceful are his other forms. He switches from a smile to a painful cry and vice versa in his sleep in a span of a few seconds. He is a mystery which keeps u guessing what is going to be his next move. Nothing beats the feeling which gets aroused when he tightly holds your finger in his tiny hand with trust. One can never feel more protective towards anybody than one's own child.

A child teaches you so many things. He is indeed the father of a man.
